Upper Limb Prosthetic Consulting |
Today’s prosthetic professionals face many pressures keeping up with their busy and diverse orthotic and prosthetic practices. Maintaining the necessary skill set for upper-limb care is increasingly difficult given the small size of the patient population, the challenging fitting issues these cases present and the growing complexity of upper-limb technology.
Lake Prosthetics and Research can help you care for your upper-limb patient’s needs. We can help you develop a customized, patient-specific program that may include: |
- Specialist consultation with general prosthetists, case managers, physicians and care givers
- Documentation and coding
- Identification and interface with local support services
- Initial fitting, delivery and follow-up
|
Hiring an upper-limb specialist benefits not only your patient but your practice. One successful upper-limb case often leads to multiple additional overall O and P referrals. Referral sources often appreciate your willingness to go the extra mile for your patient.
Our goal is to ensure the success of every patient. We are here to be your upper-limb specialist. Let us help you meet the needs of all your patients, no matter how complex or unusual their case. |

Expert Witness Testimony and Report Services |
Lake Prosthetics and Research has extensive experience working with legal and insurance professionals, life care planners and economists. It is often difficult to determine what an upper limb patient should expect and plan for as the years pass. Most prosthetists lack the depth of experience to offer expert opinions regarding the needs and challenges of upper-limb clients.
Since 1997, Chris Lake has been consulting with clients, fitting and maintaining prostheses, and been involved in numerous cases that required expert opinion. His experience comes from all sides of review, including retrospective analysis.
Lake Prosthetics and Research’s extensive experience helps legal teams understand all facets of upper-limb technology including: |
- Initial and ongoing prosthetic care
- Past, current, and future prosthetic technology
- Repair and maintenance schedules
- Amputation levels and considerations
- The role and need for multiple prostheses

Prosthetic Technology Research and Product Development |
Chris Lake’s extensive background in all facets of product development make him a unique and valuable resource to researchers and developers. His core interests are partial hand fitting, material science and the meshing of man and machine.
He is certified and accredited in all the upper-limb manufacturer specialized courses including Touch Bionics, Otto Bock, Motion Control and Liberating Technology.
Chris also brings to the table an unprecedented depth of experience treating upper-limb patients. Few prosthetists specialize in the complex fitting issues surrounding partial hand amputees, but Chris has made that amputation level a core focus of his research and clinical practice. He has earned a global reputation as one of an elite group of practitioners pursuing successful outcomes for these patients. On an ongoing basis he shares his clinical findings with colleagues in peer-reviewed professional journals and articles.
Because of his reputation as the “go-to” person in this highly specialized field, Chris is a regular presenter and/or instructor at all the major international upper-limb focused symposiums including the Trent International Upper Limb Prosthetic Symposium and The University of New Brunswick Symposium in Myoelectric Controls. In May 2010, Chris presented his most recent innovations in socket design at the International World Congress of Prosthetists and Orthotists. |
